What is My Tasks?

My Tasks is a self-service microservice application that centralizes all access requests, approvals, and related tasks in one convenient interface. Here, you can:

  • Monitor the status of access requests you’ve submitted.
  • Approve or reject requests assigned to you.
  • Delegate tasks to other authorized individuals.
  • Review comments and collaborate on requests.
  • Track and manage escalations for pending approvals.

My Tasks streamlines your daily workflows by providing a single, intuitive interface to handle the access-related processes that arise as part of your role within the organization.

Who Uses My Tasks?

My Tasks is designed for individuals who:

  • Submit Access Requests (End-Users): Users who need new access rights to resources can track the progress of their requests here.
  • Approve or Deny Requests (Approvers, Managers, Resource Owners): Those responsible for reviewing and acting on pending requests find all their assigned tasks in one place.
  • Administrators and Risk Owners: Admins and risk managers can review requests for compliance, handle escalations, and ensure timely processing.

Understanding the Role of Approval Flows

When you request access to resources—such as joining a group or obtaining an Azure license—those requests may require approval. Approval Flow Policies define who must review and authorize these requests and under what conditions. While My Tasks is the interface where you interact with approvals, escalations, and request statuses, the detailed logic governing these approvals comes from Approval Flow Policies configured by your organization.

Key Points About Approval Flows:

  • Approval flows determine how and when requests are routed for sign-off.
  • Requests that need additional review appear as tasks in My Tasks.
  • Escalation policies, notifications, and time-based triggers are all guided by these policies.

Note: We will explore Approval Flow Policies in a dedicated module later. For now, understand that My Tasks displays the results of these policies as tasks you can manage.

Accessing My Tasks

You can access My Tasks in two ways:

Method 1: Through the EmpowerID Web Application

Follow these steps to access My Tasks via the EmpowerID Web application:

  1. Log in to the EmpowerID Web application.
  2. Navigate to the Business Requests and Tasks section.
  3. Select My Task App from the navigation menu.

Method 2: Direct URL Access

You can access Resource Admin directly by entering its URL into your browser. If you are not authenticated, you will be directed to do so before access is granted.

Note: The URL will be specific to your organization's configuration.
